APPLE BUTTER

When life gives you apples, you make apple butter!

This slow-cooker apple butter recipe is very easy to prepare, and it can last up to two weeks in the fridge. So, pick your apples, and let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs of a variety of apples (peeled, cored and sliced)

  • 1 cup pure cane sugar

  • 1 cup sucanat (or coconut sugar)

  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp. ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp. ground clove

  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt

  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon and some lemon zest

  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Place the apples in a crockpot.

  2. In a bowl, throw in the sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and sea salt.

  3. Pour the mixture over the apples and mix well.

  4. Cook in crockpot on low for about 10 hours, stirring occasionally.

  5. Add the vanilla to the mix, and continue cooking uncovered on low for about 2 hours.

  6. Let it cool for about 30 minutes.

  7. Use an immersion blender to puree the apple butter until you get a smooth consistency.

  8. Spoon the mixture into jars, cover them, and refrigerate for up to two weeks.

  9. Time to butter your favorite foods!
