Homemade Biscuits

There's nothing quite like the warm, buttery goodness of homemade biscuits straight from the oven. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create delicious biscuits that are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a side dish for any meal. This recipe for homemade biscuits is easy to follow and yields light, fluffy biscuits that will have your family coming back for more.

Ingredients:

2 heaping cups of fresh milled flour (soft wheat berries)

4 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/2 tsp cream of tartar

2 tsp cane sugar

1/2 cup cold butter (1 stick)

2/3 cup plant-based milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and prepare a baking sheet with grease or parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine fresh milled flour, baking powder, sea salt, cream of tartar, and cane sugar.

  3. Add cold butter to the flour mixture and work it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Gradually pour in the plant-based milk, stirring until the dough comes together.

  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until it holds together.

  6. Roll out the dough to 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter or glass.

  7. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.

  8. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
