Chia Seed Strawberry Jam
My favorite way to use this recipe is by adding it with a pudding. I love how flavorful it is and it’s the perfect breakfast side to add into your morning!
Instructions:
Preparation: Rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cold water. Remove the stems and chop the strawberries into small pieces.
Cooking the Strawberries: In a saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries, water, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries begin to break down and release their juices. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Adding Sweetener: Once the strawberries have softened, stir in the maple syrup. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly.
Incorporating Chia Seeds: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the chia seeds until well combined. The chia seeds will help to thicken the jam as it cools.
Cooling and Refrigeration: Allow the jam to cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a clean jar or container. Cover the jar with a lid and refrigerate the jam for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow it to congeal and reach the desired consistency.
Enjoy: Once the jam has set, it's ready to be enjoyed! Spread it on toast, pancakes, or use it as a topping for yogurt or oatmeal. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one week.
