Homemade Croutons from Fresh Milled Flour

It is best to use bread that is 4-5 days old so you get a nice crunch. These croutons are so delicious when made this way, they are also healthy!

Ingredients:

  1. 4-5 days old bread made from fresh milled flour (bread recipe here)

  2. Olive oil (I use Palmetto Olive Oil's garlic)

  3. Salt

  4. Pepper

  5. Garlic powder

  6. Parsley

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Slice the Bread: Cut the bread into cubes. Aim for even sizes to ensure uniform cooking.

  3. Coat with Olive Oil: Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Drizzle enough olive oil to coat the bread evenly. Toss the cubes gently to ensure they are well-coated.

  4. Season the Bread: Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley over the bread cubes. Adjust the amount of seasoning according to your taste. Toss the cubes again to distribute the seasoning evenly.

  5. Bake: Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the croutons are nice and crunchy. Flip the croutons halfway through the baking time to ensure even cooking.

  6. Cool and Store: Once baked, remove the croutons from the oven and let them cool completely. Store in an airtight container to maintain their crunch.

Enjoy your homemade croutons in salads, soups, or as a crunchy snack!
