TIGER NUT HORCHATA
Horchata is a popular Mexican beverage that is made with rice, water, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla. However, the following recipe has a little twist. Its main ingredient is tiger nuts!
While the name suggests it, tiger nuts are actually not nuts. They are a legume rich in antioxidants. They also boost immunity and aid in digestion. Plus, they are surprisingly delicious!
Tiger nut milk is the main component of this healthier version of horchata. The best part? This tiger nut milk is very easy to make, and it can be enjoyed as the traditional refreshing horchata or as a delicious latte.
Directions
TIGER NUT MILK
Throw the tiger nuts, the hot water and the desired quantity of sweetener into a blender.
Blend until all of the ingredients are well incorporated and as liquid as possible.
Strain the milk using your strainer of choice, and strain the milk as much as possible into a container. I recommend using tongs to squeeze the strainer bag.
TRADITIONAL HORCHATA
Put the milk in the fridge and let it cool for about 20 minutes.
Take it out of the fridge, pour it into a glass with ice and top with a pinch of cinnamon.
Enjoy this refreshing beverage!
HORCHATA LATTE
Throw some brewed coffee into a mug.
Put tiger milk into the milk steamer/frother.
Once done, throw in the milk on top of the coffee.
Add some cinnamon on top and a drizzle of honey.
Enjoy your horchata latte!
