FRUIT LEATHER

Summer calls for fun, tasty, and healthy treats. This homemade fruit leather is the perfect summer treat that kids and adults alike won’t be able to get enough of.

This healthy version of the popular “Fruit Roll-Ups” is just as delicious as the traditional snack, but has a very key difference: nutrients! This recipe is actually nourishing our bodies and only calls for three simple ingredients — yes, three!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries

  • 2 tbsp. agave, honey or maple syrup

  • Lemon juice (1/2 lemon if bigger than average, or 1 whole lemon if regular size)

Directions

  1. Add ingredients into blender. Blend until smooth.

  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

  3. Add blended mix into saucepan.

  4. Stir continuously until it starts to bubble. Once it starts boiling, turn off stove.

  5. Pour mix into baking sheet.

  6. Use scraper to spread the mix evenly throughout the parchment paper, forming a rectangle. Make sure the rectangle is thin, but not too thin that you can see the parchment paper.

  7. Bake at 170°F for approximately 3 to 3.5 hours (time varies depending on oven.)

  1. Once done, cut fruit leather (parchment paper included) into vertical rectangles. The paper will help protect them until they are ready to eat.

  2. Store in a container or ziplock bag, and refrigerate until ready to eat.

  3. Roll them up and enjoy!
