Golden Milk

The Perfect Drink for Relaxation and Wellness

Golden Milk is a warm, comforting drink packed with powerful spices known for their health benefits. Whether you're looking to reduce inflammation, calm your nervous system, or improve your sleep quality, Golden Milk is a delicious and soothing way to give your body a boost. This recipe combines turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and other spices that not only taste amazing but also work wonders on your health.

Turmeric, with its active compound curcumin, is a well-known anti-inflammatory agent. Ginger and cinnamon offer their own unique benefits, while black pepper helps enhance the absorption of turmeric. Add some honey for a touch of sweetness and you’ve got yourself a cup of pure wellness.

If you're someone who likes to have a batch ready to go for when you need it, I've got you covered! I show you how to make a batch of this incredible Golden Milk so it's always available when you’re craving that warm, calming cup. Plus, the added benefit of this drink before bed may help you sleep better – and who doesn’t want that?

Ingredients:

  • Turmeric – 25g

  • Ginger – 8g

  • Cinnamon (Ceylon preferred) – 4g

  • Black Pepper – 2.5g (Note: the piperine in black pepper helps increase turmeric absorption!)

  • Cardamom – 2.5g

  • Cloves – 2.5g

  • Nutmeg – 2.5g

  • Coriander – 2.5g

For an individual serving:

  • 1 heaping tablespoon of the spice mix

  • 1 cup of your milk of choice (almond milk, coconut milk, etc.)

  • Honey (optional, for sweetness)

Equipment: Hand frother (optional, for a creamy finish)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Mix:
In a small bowl, combine turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and coriander. Mix well to combine.

  2. Make the Golden Milk:
For one serving, take 1 heaping tablespoon of your spice mix and add it to 1 cup of your milk of choice. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until it’s hot but not boiling.

  3. Sweeten and Froth (Optional):
If you like your Golden Milk a little sweeter, add a drizzle of honey to taste. For extra creaminess, you can use a hand frother to froth the milk for a smoother texture.

  4. Serve and Enjoy:
Pour your Golden Milk into a cozy cup, and enjoy the soothing warmth and the benefits of this anti-inflammatory, calming drink.

Tips:

  • Black Pepper: Don’t skip this ingredient! It contains piperine, which helps your body better absorb the turmeric, making this drink even more effective.

  • Healthy Fats: Turmeric is fat-soluble, so pairing it with a healthy fat (like coconut milk or a drizzle of ghee) helps your body absorb it more efficiently.

  • Batch Prep: If you want to make a larger batch to have ready, simply scale the spice mix up! This is a great option if you want to have it ready whenever you need a little comfort or relaxation.
