HAZELNUT SPREAD

Nutella is tasty, but its ingredients aren’t so wholesome.

This is why this hazelnut spread recipe is perfect if looking for a healthy Nutella alternative. It is perfect for toast, pancakes, crepes, or by the spoonful.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hazelnuts

  • 1/3 cup sucanat (or coconut sugar)

  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt

  • 1 tbsp. vanilla

  • 1/4 cup cacao powder

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F.

  2. Roast hazelnuts for about 6 minutes. 

  3. Once they are toasty, allow them to cool just enough for them to be handled.

  4. With a paper towel, run the hazelnuts together to remove some of the outer shells. 

  5. In a blender or food processor, blend the nuts until smooth, and then add all other ingredients.

  6. Blend again until smooth, with no grainy texture. 

  7. Refrigerate and enjoy!
